How Can We Help?
Much of the fruit that is harvested by City Fruit goes to meal programs, food banks, and diversion partners. This means that City Fruit staff and volunteers do not always get to directly interact with the folks who enjoy the fruit we harvest and share. Here, Fruit-For-Alls are a valuable way for staff to be able to interact with the community, as well as a way for community members to directly connect with City Fruit.
City Fruit’s Harvest Program Coordinator organizes the contacts and schedules for City Fruit’s Fruit-For-All events. Fruit-For-Alls takes place from July through October and happen all over the Seattle area. They take place at community centers, low- ncome housing, equity focused farmers markets, and health clinics. People can find out Fruit-For-All schedules on our website and our social media. They are frequently shared by our community partners and often become our most popular posts on Instagram.
Fruit-For-All attendees are encouraged to take all of the fruit they desire. The fruit stand is meant to be a low barrier, no-questions asked means for folks to access free, fresh, and local fruit. City Fruit tabling materials are available and there is 1 to 2 staff available for people to ask questions and learn more about the organization and the sourcing of their food. Fruit- or-Alls are a great way to connect over a love of fruit, and are a wonderful way for CF staff to connect with people, and learn important information about culturally relevant fruit preferences to improve our service to specific communities. In 2024, our fruit stand distributed over 2000 lbs of fruit to over 300 community members.
