New Harvest VISTA Leader: Welcome Frenchie!

As a Harvest VISTA Leader in the AmeriCorps Harvest VISTA Program, Frenchie Loveheart will be focusing on developing strategic concepts regarding program outreach, engagement, and recruitment to support the numerous host sites around the country. The cornerstone goal of the Harvest VISTA program is to reduce food waste while increasing the amount of fresh nutritious produce available to people experiencing poverty by building capacity within sustainable gleaning, produce recovery, and other food system programs. Other facets of his work will be the facilitating of training of AmeriCorps members on the Harvest VISTA team are up-to-date and accurate, on-going mentoring is provided as necessary, and communicate the impacts of the program to the stakeholders and community!

AmeriCorps member Frenchie Loveheart serves as the VISTA Leader for the Harvest VISTA Program sponsored by Harvest Against Hunger in Seattle, WA. The Harvest VISTA Program partners with 10+ non-profits in an effort to reduce food waste while increasing the amount of fresh nutritious food available to the community, especially those experiencing poverty.

He received his B.A. in Public Administration and Business from Evergreen State College. He volunteered and interned with the Center for Community Based Learning and Action (CCBLA) where he served in the food bank and the community garden. This is a fond remembrance of his childhood of planting trees and harvesting watermelons and cantaloupes for the summer. He also watched food being destroyed and often thought that food could be given back to the community that is suffering from food insecurities. 

Frenchie is an experienced program manager within the University Systems and has a proven track record of working within the Public Administration sphere. Skilled in Operations Management, admission and recruitment, team building, public speaking, legislative relations, and contract analyst. He is a strong military and protective services professional that earned his degree in Master of Social Work (MSW) with a focus on Mental Health from University of Washington

Frenchie is excited for the opportunity to use his skillset and help others while serving the greater good through AmeriCorps and Harvest Against Hunger organization. He saw this opportunity as a win-win year-long commitment. In his free time, Frenchie can be found visiting jazz shops and lakes.
