Welcome, Meggie!

16 Jun 2022, by Admin in Harvest Blog, Harvest VISTA, Concrete Jungle

Meggie serves as the Program Expansion and Communications VISTA for Concrete Jungle. Concrete Jungle is an Atlanta-based nonprofit that transforms overlooked and underutilized fruit trees and land into a healthy food source for communities in need. Partnering with dozens of local organizations to distribute produce, Concrete Jungle engages volunteers in gleaning fruit from trees and operating an urban farm.

At Concrete Jungle, Meggie will build out the newest program, Produce Buyers Club, which reroutes unmarketable produce from farms to hunger relief organizations. She will also interface with Concrete Jungle’s network of volunteers and supporters by strategically managing the organization’s communications. After volunteering at Concrete Jungle, Meggie is excited to be on the team full time.

Meggie grew up gardening with her family and eating fresh produce every summer. When she moved to Atlanta in 2014, she was captivated by the expansive network of local farmers in the metro area. Her goal is to increase access to local, healthy produce for all. In the past, she served as a FoodCorps member, a farm apprentice, and a health educator to help individuals connect with good food. In her free time Meggie likes to roller skate and make art.
