We are excited about bringing back Rotary work parties and invite you to join us on the second Sunday of the month from July – October 2025 from 10am-2pm at Elk Run Farm. Elk Run Farm isn’t just a place where food is grown – it’s a farm that exists solely to serve hunger relief organizations across South King County. Every carrot pulled, every tomato harvested, and every row planted is done with the express purpose of feeding neighbors in need. Thanks to Harvest Against Hunger (then Rotary First Harvest) Elk Run Farm broke ground in 2015 on the site of a former golf course. The project would not have happened without the time, talent and treasure provided by Rotarians across District 5030!
Light to medium physical labor that may include raking, hoeing, planting, weeding, hauling materials, mulching, turning compost and harvesting produce. Elk Run Farm is committed to finding projects that match all skills and abilities.
Are kids allowed to come?
Yes. Volunteers between the ages of 12-17 can volunteer without a parent or guardian but must have the proper paperwork in place and Elk Run Farm staff authorization first. Volunteers under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Is there a break for lunch?
Yes, there will be a 30-minute break for lunch. In addition, feel free to take a water break at any time as it’s important to stay hydrated. Elk Run Farm does not provide food for volunteers so you will need to bring your own lunch and snacks. If you bring a reusable water bottle, Elk Run Farm has drinking water on site.
Do I need to stay for the entire 4-hour shift?
No. However, it’s important that you arrive promptly at 10am to hear the instructions about the work you’ll be doing that day.
What if it rains?
Work parties are held rain or shine.
May I show up and participate without registering in advance?
