Cooperating to Feed Community
Co-ops and Communities United for Food Access
PCC Community Markets has launched a rapid-response campaign to support access to food across our region. Local co-ops and community partners including BECU Foundation, Organically Grown Company (OGC), Charlie’s Produce, Sound Credit Union, Macrina Bakery, Patagonia Provisions, Cascadia Produce, Ellenos, Lesser Evil, Nature’s Path, Organic Valley, Cairnspring Mills, Frontier Co-op, and Harvest Against Hunger have already joined in this shared effort, with more partners welcome to participate.
100% of donations go directly to local hunger relief organizations including food banks, pantries, mutual aid networks, and community food programs so they can purchase the foods most needed in their communities.
All donations are processed by Harvest Against Hunger, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Donations are fully tax-deductible.
Why this campaign matters
Recent disruptions to SNAP and WIC benefits have made it harder for many of our neighbors to access nutrient-dense food consistently. Local hunger relief organizations are seeing visits up more than 70% since 2019, even as funding and food donations have declined. In the weeks ahead, demand is expected to grow another 30–40%.
Benefits may be flowing again, but the recent disruption has intensified hunger in our region, leaving hunger relief organizations stretched and families struggling to access enough healthy food.
This community-led campaign strengthens the local food safety net by maximizing the impact of every dollar donated, because even with partial relief restored, co-ops, values-driven businesses, and caring customers must continue to rally together to meet the very real needs of today and prepare for what comes next.
How your donation helps
By pooling resources and coordinating bulk purchases, hunger relief organizations can:
- – Purchase fresh, nutrient-dense foods like produce, proteins, dairy, and pantry staples at wholesale or below, often 40–60% less than retail
- – Stretch funds further, ensuring more community members have access to nourishing food
- – Respond quickly to community needs through a direct, streamlined ordering system
This is more than a donation; It’s a way to stretch every dollar as much as possible. Please consider donating if you are able. Every dollar makes a difference.
