Dani Dolphin is originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, the traditional homelands of the Dakhóta Thamákhočhe. She spent the winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and perfecting her sourdough focaccia recipe. At the University of Vermont, Dani studied Environmental Education, Justice and Sustainability. She comes to Harvest Against Hunger with a background working on regenerative farms in Vermont, Minnesota and California as an Educator, CSA Coordinator, Thistle Tamer, Goat Milker and much more. These experiences and her commitment to creating a more just food system have prepared her for the year of service ahead.
Dani serves as the Community Food System VISTA with Blue Mountain Action Council Food Bank in Walla Walla, WA. BMAC is a private nonprofit working to meet the basic needs of low-income individuals and families. BMAC Food Bank partners with 24 agencies in Southeast WA state to reach people facing food insecurity in 5 counties. Dani is working to coordinate the independent efforts of SE WA farmers, businesses, organizations, gleaners and volunteers to address food access and distribute agricultural products to projects in Southeast Washington. Dani is looking forward to exploring her new surroundings by bike, connecting directly with farmers and spending weekends at the farmer’s market.
